ECL 4 was our best and biggest card to date, and the fights echoed the awesomeness as well. With eight phenomenal fights on deck, it was hard to pick one that stood above the rest, but as hard of a job as that is, we always rise to the challenge. Our main event was a fight to behold, with both fighters having represented team Canada in their last outings, with Chang defeating top American 147lbs fighter, and Pham getting the nod over a season Chinese opponent in a the same weight class.
Make no mistake about it, this was a showdown between two of Canada’s best, and they did not let the crowd down. The two fighters touched gloves at the beginning of round one, and it was clear that all bets were off. Chang came out guns blazing and set a high pace for Pham to contend with, and he definitely rose to the occasion. Chang was definitely the aggressor and forced Pham to become the counter fighter. Both fighters displayed impeccable technique and mastery of the sport by landing impressive strikes, and refusing to back down from one another. When the proverbial dust had settled, the judges had a tough decision to make, and it was was one that was very narrowly edged out by the winner and new WKA 147lbs Canadian Champion Richard Pham.
This was one of those fights where neither fighter lost, and both men saw their stock rise. It’s safe to say that a future clash between these two warriors is imminent, and don’t be surprised if the tables get turned. We wish both fighters a speedy recovery and return to the ring
